    August 15, 2020

Welcome back to another school year at North Ogden Elementary!  I hope you and your family members are having a great summer.  I want to introduce myself with a little background.   My name is Shirley Passey and I am coming to North Ogden Elementary from Lakeview Elementary in Roy.   I have been an educator for 25 years in Weber School District and I’ve taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade.  I’ve also worked as a reading coach, counselor and administrator.   My journey started 25 years ago at Pioneer and since then I have worked at Roosevelt, Club Heights, Washington Terrace, Roy, Midland, Valley View, Lakeview and this year at North Ogden.   I’m thrilled to be here and look forward to getting to know each of you and the wonderful children that will be here this year.

We are going to have a great year of exciting learning and hard work.  I believe in our students, teachers and staff.   I know that working together we can reach our goals.  I look forward to working with you, your children and the fabulous staff at this school.

Our back to school night is on Monday, Aug. 24th from 4:00- 6:00 pm.  This year will be a little different due to Covid 19 and social distancing.  The teachers will be making a video of them in their classroom discussing the classroom procedures and information that they would normally share if it were in person.  They will send that out so you can view it at home and talk with your child about their school experience this year.

The teachers will be available to meet with you and your child if you want or need to come into the school.   This will be accomplished by signing up for a parent-teacher conference. With this in mind, we hope that you will help us minimize the number of people coming into the building by watching the video and emailing your questions or concerns to the teacher.

If you choose to sign up for a conference then we ask that you and your child(ren) wear a mask or shield as we are following the health department and WSD school guidelines.

School starts on Wed. Aug. 26th at 8:25 am (five minutes earlier this year) and school ends at 2:30 pm M,T, Th., F. and at 12:25 pm on Wednesday and any other early out days.  We will have early out on Thurs. 27th, and Fri. 28th at 12:25.

Please remember to put some money in your child’s lunch account.  There are three ways to add money to your child’s lunch account.  You can add money to the lunch account by visiting  www.http. wsd.net under Child Nutrition or you can send money with your child on the first day or stop in at the office and Mrs. Smout can take your credit card.   If you are a person who might qualify for free and reduced lunch or have been in the past, then you will need to fill out a free and reduced lunch application. In order to qualify for free and reduced meals each year you have to apply each year.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Passey
