Community Council Meeting Minutes
Thursday - January 18, 2024 at 5:00

Member in attendance: Chair - Heidi Preston, Principal - Ranel Cox, Member - Linda Williams, Member - Mallory Winn, Instructional Coach - Amy Filiaga, District Ed Tech Coach - Alan Rhees
Members who were absent - Vice Chair - Kellie Johnson, Member - Sharon Brown, Member - Matt Deamer, Member - Lacee Embleton, Member - Olivia Lott
- Welcome - Heidi Preston - Chair Brought the meeting to order
- Internet Safety Training - Alan Rhees
- Weber School District teaches the Child Internet Protection Act or (CIPA)
- Web Filtering
- The primary filters Weber School District uses to keep kids safe is iBoss Secure Web Gateways
- The filter by Grade and School level
- Weber School District policies for social media
- Monitoring
- Weber School District is using Blocksi to monitor
- Teachers can monitor the student’s chromebooks
- Parent implementation is coming soon
- The district uses Bark to monitor Gmail, Google Drive and Google Docs - The report is sent to the principal
- Teaching
- Alan went over media usage and the significant climb in the usage numbers
- The district uses Common Sense media to help teach online safety.

- Alan Rhees introduced a couple good books to help parents

- Review of Timelines and Due Dates - Heidi Preston
- January 17 - Final Report for 2022/2023 Opens, Due Feb. 9
- March 8 - Upcoming Plan Due to the District
- March 12 - Plans Reviewed by District
- March 18 - Corrected Plan Due
- April 12 - Plans approved by the District Board and sent to the State.
- Review of current Plan/DATA - Ranel Cox
- Currently in the MOY assessment window
- All aides have been pulled to help with the middle of the year assessments
- The Goal is that 80% of students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade will show typical to well above according to the Pathways of progress by the end of May 2024.
- The middle of the year assessments are completed and the total of Kindergarten through 3rd grade students is 218/296 students or 74% of students have reached typical or above typical growth according to the Acadience Pathways of Progress.
- Mallory suggested that we send an email out to parents with the percentage so they can be aware of how great we are doing.
- Alan Rhees said he would help up with a White Ribbon Week if we would like to do one.
- Currently in the MOY assessment window
- Discussion on Goals for next year - Ranel Cox
- Goal #1 - By the end of the 2024 - 2025 school year, 80% of Kindergarten through 6th grade students will reach benchmark or make typical or above typical growth as measured on the Pathways of Progress program on the end-of-year Acadience Reading Assessment.
- Goal #2 - By the end of the 2024 - 2025 school year, 80% of students will reflect at least 1 year's growth using the IXL Diagnostic Assessment.
- Amy Filiaga suggested that on our goal #2 We might want to just include the 2nd or 3rd grade through 6th grade.
- The council members were happy with the draft goals.
- Miscellaneous - Council Members - There was no miscellaneous business
- Next Meeting will be rescheduled for Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 5:00pm in the conference room.
- Everyone agreed with the new meeting date.
- Mallory Winn motioned to adjourn the meeting and Heidi Preston seconded the motion.
